Our info pages provide historical info, fun facts, activity options, photos, and maps to help guide everyone to an incredible outdoor experience they will never forget!
Some of our adventures have led us into some pretty wild experiences. Hopefully our tales will help spark inspiration to plan an adventure in the great outdoors!
Bragg Creek is a beautiful hamlet located south west of Calgary, Alberta that provides a feeling of peace and tranquility! Whether people are looking for a day trip, weekend excursion, or planning a lengthy vacation; Bragg Creek is an amazing place to visit with a ton of activities for people of all ages to enjoy!
Dinosaur Provincial Park (aka DPP) is recognized as having one of the
"richest dinosaur fossil sites in the world!"
There are activities for all ages including the option to visit a fossil dig site. Plenty of options for overnight camping and somewhere we highly recommend visiting!
Drumheller is actually considered to be the "Dinosaur Capital of the World!"
Not only is there is rich history of dinosaur fossils, there are also many other exciting outdoor adventures to explore like the notorious "Hoodoos" (pictured above) and other significant locations around area.
Dry-Island Buffalo Jump Provincial Park is a secret gem in central Alberta with numerous activities for people of all ages to enjoy!
We highly recommend visiting because of the incredible bird watching, hiking, fishing, day-use picnic sites, river access, and to learn about the most northern & steepest buffalo jump in North America!
Elk Island National Park is a wood & large plains bison conservation with many different areas of the park to view these beautiful animals in their natural habitat. There are a numerous amount of trail systems throughout the park, camping options, day-use areas, and great historical information about the early Ukrainian settlers in the area!
Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump has been recognized on a world wide scale because of its history with all the communal hunting, spiritual practices and leisurely activities that have taken place here for over 5000 years by the Blackfoot people.
Wondering where the unique name of this buffalo jump originated from?
Another remarkable location that has made its mark in our world's history! There is some of the most stunning landscape to walk through and the site also contains the greatest rock art concentration on the North American plains. There are options for guided tours to view protected rock art, camping options, day-use picnic areas, river access and hiking trails for people of ages to enjoy.
Abraham Lake undergoes an amazingly unique event each winter as methane bubbles freeze under the ice surface during the winter months. Not only is Abraham Lake a beautiful destination in the winter; the surrounding area has some incredible hiking options, wildlife (including wild horses), and scenery in Alberta anytime of the year!
Athabasca Glacier is one of those destinations that is a must see along along with driving the Canadian Icefields Parkway. For those who are really adventurous, there is an option to climb on the glacier or hike at the base of glacier to view the mighty crevices. There is a pleather of information about the glacier we look forward to sharing with everyone!
Canmore has been a staple in the Rocky Mountains for years!
There are amazing options for hiking, mountain biking, cross country skiing, downhill skiing, snowshoeing, geocaching and many other options for outdoor adventures! There is also a world class Nordic Centre facility that was built for the 1988 Olympic Winter Games!
Lake Louise is one of the most beautiful lakes in Western Canada! There are endless activity options for those who are looking to visit in the summer or winter months. There is a world-renowned hotel, World Cup ski hill and some very beautiful hiking options available for people of all ages. We feel this is a destination everyone should have on their adventure list and are excited to share with everyone!
Lake Minnewanka is located in Banff National Park and we feel it is a wonderful place to visit. The options for hiking, day-use picnic areas, and scenic drive while providing a place of peacefulness.
Plus, there is a local legend where a creature was discovered in Lake Minnewanka and we are excited to share because it is something out of this world!
Maligne Canyon, which located in Jasper National Park, is a must see in both the winter and summer months. The picture above was taken down in the canyon during an "ice walk" which allows people to walk along the base of the canyon! How neat is that? The power of the water has carved out the rocks over the years and is something to experience in person!
Mount Robson, what a sight! Measuring in at 3,954 m (12,972 ft) and we feel it is a mountain to see in person! There are many options for all kinds of adventures around Mt. Robson such as hiking up to Berg Lake, camping under the stars and meeting new people from all over the globe! These are only a few of the reasons why we feel this destination should be added as a stop on everyone's adventure bucket list!
Pyramid Lake is located in Jasper National Park 10 mins from the town of Jasper, Alberta. This is another destination to visit anytime of the year because there are activity options such as skating on lake, sleigh rides, snowshoeing & cross country skiing in the winter. The spring & summer months also offer options for hiking, paddling on the lake and enjoying the landscape around the area!
Spray Lakes provides such magnificent scenery we just had to include this in our list of recommended stops in the Rockies. For those looking to brave the cold weather, there are dogsledding tours which take people out on the frozen lake to soak up the ravishing scenery in the Rockies! Not into the cold? Not to worry; Spray Lakes also provides a number of options for activities in the summer months as well!
Cody Caves is something out of this world and feel this is a location that should be on anyone's adventure list travelling in the area. There are options for guided tours inside the cave which provide the option to walk along the underground stream that carves its way through the ancient limestone! The stream is not the only thing people can view with some of the nocturnal life living in the caves...
Fairmont Hot Springs is a wonderful location just outside of Windermere, BC. There is the option to experience the Hot Springs both in the natural and man made pools which we feel is pretty neat. There are countless things to do around the area in the winter and summer months so we recommend putting this beautiful and scenic destination on everyone's adventure list!
We have been visiting Fort Steele for many years and feel the needed to put it on our recommended locations because of the history it provides in the Kootenay valley!.
There are options to ride the steam train, explore the historic town site and even options to catch live entertainment that was similar to what was offered in the early 1900's!
Kokanee Glacier is considered to be one of the most stunning locations in western Canada! The hiking trails are world class and there are options for multiple day hikes to view some of the most beautiful scenery Canada has to offer. The other neat thing is that there is a cabin available to rent along Kokanee Lake for those looking to spend sometime staying off-grid in one of the most beautiful locations in western Canada!
Mount Revelstoke is a location we visit frequently because of all the astounding activities to do. As one can see from the picture above, it also provides epic views and adventures to be had. People from all walks of life are able to enjoy Mount Revelstoke and the town of Revelstoke as well. Any outdoor enthusiast will appreciate what Revelstoke has to offer and definitely recommend adding this destination to any adventure bucket list!
Radium Hot Springs is another exceptional destination that provides a very large hot springs pool (pictured above) and a cold pool as well! The town of Radium also offers great camping options and hiking trails for people of all ages to enjoy. There are also a few secret hidden gems that we want to fill people in on because they are experiences that will be remembered forever!
Bear Creek is a lovely destination with camping availability, day-use access, beautiful hiking options, a waterfall to view and even the possibility to swim at the base of it during certain times of year! Bear Creek is a special place in the Okanagan and highly recommend visiting the area to experience it first hand.
Chute Lake is a beautiful quaint lake located along the Kettle Valley Railway just outside of Penticton, BC. Offering a remote feeling being in the Okanagan wilderness and provides many options for outdoor adventures. Plus, options for accommodations, dining, celebrating and a place to remember!
Ellison Provincial Park is somewhere people come from all over North America to enjoy. A camp ground awaits those who are looking to sleep under the stars. There are also great trails for mountain biking, trail running, hiking, and incredible views for people of all ages. Plus, a beautiful beach at Otter Bay to relax and enjoy the Okanagan sunshine!
Fintry Provincial Park not only has one of the nicest lake front campgrounds in the Okanagan Valley but also some really interesting historical info about the area. There is a stunning waterfall that can be viewed from above or for those looking to seek a little more adventure; people can swim at the base of the falls to refresh after hiking around the area. There is something special about the Fintry area and highly recommend visiting!
Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park is considered to be an outdoor playground for those who seek outdoor adventure! The wildlife in the area is outstanding, the trail systems are some of the best in western Canada and offers a beautiful beach with lake access to Kalamalka Lake. Wondering where the beautiful emerald green water colour comes from? We are here to help answer those questions and share some great options for an outdoor adventure!
Kelowna's own mountain park provides easy access so everyone is able to enjoy it. The mountain provides options for mountain biking, hiking, a frisbee golf course, wildlife viewing (we see something almost every time we are there) and some of the most stunning views in all of the Okanagan. There has been a ton of work that has gone into making Knox Mountain Park what it is and we are excited to share it with everyone!
Myra-Bellevue Provincial Park located on the east side of Kelowna is another location we had to put on our list because of the amazing scenery and trail system that is in place. So much so that people come from all over to race mountain bikes, ride horseback, hike, back country camp and soak in the views of the Okanagan Valley. Not only that, the park is in a re-growing stage because of the devastating fire that took place in 2003 and is doing remarkably well which makes out hearts warm!
We felt the Myra Canyon Trestles needed to be added to our list because of the history. Just to think that these bridges & tunnels were build in the early 1900's with limited tools and difficult access to transport supplies. There are 18 trestles in total and can't wait to share all of the information with everyone. Options to walk/hike the trestles or bike along them in the summer months. Or, for those who like adventure the winter, people snowshoe or cross country ski the Trestles because of the phenomenal views!
The Thompson Okanagan Valley needed a section of its own because of all the history around the valley & lake. This section will dive into different locations around the valley providing history on the lake & geology of the region, along with information to help plan a trip in the area. Since the lake is so large, we wanted to utilize this page to share information most people do not know about so that everyone's next adventure to the Okanagan is something special!
Pincushion Mountain is located in Peachland, BC and offers one of the most spectacular views of Okanagan Lake and Valley! Plus, the district municipality of Peachland also offers great beachfront access to provide the option to have a swim and cool off after completing the Pincushion hike. There is also a local legend about "Rattlesnake Island" that we look forward to sharing with everyone!
Rose Valley is located in West Kelowna and is a location to explore over and over again! We consider the trail network to be one of the best in the Okanagan Valley which provides stunning views, mountain biking, hiking, wildlife viewing, and snowshoeing with a feeling of truly being out in the wilderness. We feel Rose valley is a playground for outdoor enthusiasts of all ages!
Skaha Lake is located on the south end of Penticton, BC that offers some of the best beachfront in the Okanagan valley! There is also a notable river float from Okanagan Lake to Skaha Lake plus so many other fun things to do around town! Skaha Lake could be considered a "Canadian Mexico" and cannot wait to share how wonderful of a destination it is with everyone!
Bridal Veil Falls felt like one of the most magical places we have ever had the privilege to explore in Western Canada! This day-use park is located just outside the city of Chilliwack and has deep roots into Canadian history dating back to the 1700's. We are excited to share information to help with planning a visit to the park!
As one can see from the picture above, this suspension bridge is like no other in Western Canada. It provides stunning views over the canyon and feel it is a must stop if people are travelling in and around Vancouver, BC. This suspension bridge is situated over the Capilano River and has numerous different adventures people can choose from.
Grouse Mountain is an outdoor playground also located in Vancouver, BC. There are many different activities and adventures to choose from whether people are planning to visit in the winter or summer months. The view from the top of the mountain is absolutely stunning and we look forward to guiding people to an experience they will never forget!
The Othello tunnels are located in Coquihalla Canyon Provincial Park outside of Hope, BC. These tunnels were carved out for a railway system many years ago and have now been turned into a beautiful walkway for people to enjoy. Wondering where the name originated from? We look forward to sharing as well as many other different fun facts about the area!
Stanley Park is another location that resides in Vancouver, BC. This park has so many different areas to explore with all sorts of history, indigenous cultural significance plus many other adventures for people of all ages. We feel Stanley Park is a must stop anytime people are around the area because of what it offers on many different levels.
Tofino, BC is located on the West Coast of Vancouver Island and feel there is no other place like it in Canada. There are an outstanding amount of adventures around Tofino and a destination for all the water lovers out there and have many different outdoor adventures options in the winter summer months!
